The Sidmouth Jewellers Stableford witnessed the start of a great weekend for one member.
Winning with a decent score of 37 points was Iain Roberts, just one point ahead of the runners up, Simon Emerson taking second on countback from John Rockey both on 36.
On Saturday, the annual running of the John Griffiths Trophy, in memory of a past Captain and Chairman, saw nearly 100 players participating and Iain Roberts winning again.
This time as part of a team, Iain, together with Simon Moore and Andy Denning, took the honours in a one-to-score threeball competition with an excellent 11 under par 55.
Saturday specialist Merv Anthony, along with his partners Paddy Tallon and Brian Leach, took second on countback from Bernard Irerson, David Ash and Adrian Priest, who had scored a respectable 58 apiece.
The Upper Crust Monday Stableford featured the best competitive scores of the season so far with Brian Davies, now playing off 4.9 recording a magnificent 43 points.
This was just one point head of another player enjoying a good streak of form, Simon Emerson, with a solid 42, which on another day would have been good enough to win. In third place came John Jones with 38 points.
Top senior players were Ken Price 36 and Phil Spencer with 35.
