The latest round of East Devon League (EDL) matches were played at Sidmouth at the weekend with five-man teams from Honiton, Axe Cliff, Exminster, Teign Valley, Bovey Tracey and Fingle Glen participating, writes Hugh Dorliac.
On this occasion Sidmouth does not play, but provides the neutral course.
First out were the teams from Bovey Tracey and Fingle Glen. Both teams worked hard to win as the scores of two halved matches and two wins to one showed, but it was Bovey who took the overall honours with success in the fourth match with a three-and-two win before Fingle came back with a five-and-three comprehensive win in the last, to no avail however. Bovey won overall three-and-two. Exminster versus Axe Cliff was a tighter affair with Axe Cliff emerging victorious by three matches to two to pick up their bonus points.
Last out was the Honiton against Teign Valley match, which proved a tough test for Honiton, who were well beaten by a half to four-and-a-half. Teign picked up the two bonus points for the win.
The next round will be held at Exminster on June 9.
