Sidmouth II head into the final match day of the Tolchards League season knowing that, as long as they bank more points than the home side then they be crowned 2nd XI Premier Division champions once again.
The reason for that is that Saturday’s opponents are none other than second-in-the-table Exeter who can only win the top honour themselves as long as they win the game.
Indeed the afternoon is set to be a thriller for there’s a scenario where Sidmouth get maximum batting and bowling points but still lose the title if the home side also bank maximum batting and bowling points and win the game.
Last weekend Sidmouth were involved in a rain ruined meeting with North Devon that saw them bank eight points while Exeter beat Cornwood in a low scoring affair to bank 19.
