Sidmouth IIs batsmen made a welcome return to form to set up an emphatic 193-run win at Exmouth II.

Skipper Nick Gingell won the toss, opted to bat, and led fro the front, putting on 67 with teenager Harvey Sargent.

The pair put on 70 at a good rate before the youngster departed for 21.

Nick Mansfield was next man in and he carried on fro where he had left off seven days before, stroking the ball with real confidence on his way to a solid 69. The skipper eventually fell for a run-a-ball 67 with Mansfield then engaging in partnerships of 50 with Matt Hewer (17) and finally 92 with Saj Patidar.

Patidar put bat to ball with great effect powering his way to an explosive 64 from just 28 balls.

Two balls into the reply Exmouth were 13-0! However, James Pickard then found line and length to reel off four successive maidens with two of them being wicket maidens!

At the other end Fionn Wardrop found some help from the pitch and picked up four wickets, one of them aided by a smart catch at second slip by Miles Dalton.

Dalton replaced Pickard and picked up two more wickets, before Charlie Dibble finished things off with a brace of wickets as the hosts were bundled out inside 23 overs.

One point worthy of note is that wicketkeeper Matt Hewer conceded not a single bye for the third consecutive game.

Next up for the second eleven is tomorrow’s visit to Tiverton Heathcoat where the side will seek to close the 27 points between themselves (joint second with Plymouth II) and leaders Exeter II.
