Sidmouth were well beaten at Cornwood II in their final outing of the 2013 Francis Clark Devon League B Division season, going down by 10 wickets in South Devon.

What made the pain even greater on the day was that, whilst the third eleven was being unceremoniously beaten, on the adjoining pitch Exmouth were sealing the Premier Division title held by Sidmouth’s senior side!

Sidmouth opened the batting and in the absence of Sargent, who earlier in the week had West of England trials and was unavailable, Saj Patidar took his place alongside Tom Overthrow who was dismissed within the first three deliveries which brought Griffiths to the crease within the first over.

made 34 on a difficult wicket, which after each delivery seemed to tear up the pitch, causing difficult batting conditions. Patidar could only manage an unusual single figure score of six before being dismissed caught behind. House was in at four and couldn’t quite find his feet, being dismissed bowled with a low in-swinging yorker. Munday and Fowler both reached the early twenties before getting out after which the innings folded with the last five batsmen mustering eight runs between then.

Special mention should be made of Jash Patidar and Jordan Fowler, both 11-years-old, who batted maturely against some good bowling. Sidmouth made 105 all out from 32 overs.

The home side breezed home with 24 overs and all ten wickets to spare!

Sidmouth III once again finished third in the 2nd XI B Division table.
