Sidmouth secured a fourth victory of the Tolchards Devon League top flight season after a terrific contest with Heathcoat at their Knightshayes home.

Batting first, Sidmouth were indebted to a fifth wicket partnership of 84 between Pete Randerson (84) and Anthony Griffiths, the latter not out at the close with 46. The Randerson innings lasted for 102 minutes, he faced 85 balls and hit ten fours and three sixes on the ground where he used to ply his trade.

Skipper Will Murray also played his part with a crisp cameo that saw him score 29 from just 19 deliveries which helped his side to close on 236 all out with two balls of their 50 overs remaining.

Heathcoat made a good fit of the run chase, and were well on course at 110-5 after 26 overs. However, Murray used his bowlers to great effect – all five on duty – Charlie Miles, Andrew Mathieson, Matt Cook, Liam Lewis and Murray himself, picked up at least one wicket and the Mid Devon men were bowled out for 211 in the 46th over.
