The indoor club finals were contested over the weekend and the ladies’ championship winner was Jill Bishop with Jane Painter the runner-up, writes Carol Smith.

The men’s championship saw a win for Ken Wheeler with the runner-up being Andrew Lowe.

The mixed championship winner was Jill Bishop with Carol Smith the runner-up and, in the men’s match play singles, the winner was Ken Wheeler and the runner-up was Bob Seldon.

Sandra Wheeler and Zena Johnson won the ladies’ pairs, defeating Chris Radburn and Jill Bishop in the final and, in the mixed pairs, Carol Smith and Barry Curwen were crowned winners with Marie Timms and Mark Stephens the runners-up.

In the men’s pairs it was success for Jim Wherlock and David Butler, with Brian Smith and Dennis Denner, the runners-up. In the ladies’ Joan Jeffery Triples, the winners were Joan Monagham, Anita Mason and Zena Johnson and the runners-up were the trio of Lorna Lever, Connie Tolley and Mary Smith. In the men’s nominated triples, the winners were The Jays and the trio that contested the final comprised John Mason, Ken Wheeler and Mark Stephens. The runners-up were the The Whisperers, and their team comprised of Bill Sheerman, Brian Smith and Bob Seldon. In terms of the Sidmouth External League, kindly sponsored by Potburys, the winners were Exmouth-based Beachcombers with the runners-up being Centurions of Sidmouth and, in the Sidmouth League KO Cup, the winners were Sidmouth Centurions with Exmouth Cowboys, the runners-up.
