The tenth round of the Sidmouth Jewellers Friday night league was a restricted event due to the dire weather warnings issued for later in the day which resulted in a smaller than usual field, writes John Barnard.

Taking advantage was Bob Andrews who scored an excellent 40 points and had his handicap reduced by two shots. With six pars including the last two holes and a birdie on the tenth, off his handicap he set a difficult target that no one got near to reaching.

Chris Roberts came second with 36 points. He will be frustrated as he bogied the 17th hole and double bogied the 18th to mess up a really good back nine. Steve Crabb was surprised to be in third place with 34 points, but with only thirteen players braving the elements, he was placed as he was two shots better than the field.

In the Friday night field, Mark Thomas moved further ahead with 59 points, twelve points ahead of Craig Melluish with Lee Wenham a further two points back.
