A busy weekend of golf at Sidmouth started on Friday night with the Sidmouth Jewellers Stableford, writes Hugh Dorliac.

A new name to the leaderboard was Lee Barber with a good score of 39, earning him a two stroke deduction from his handicap as well as the prize money.

In second was Dave Richards on 38 (-1) with another new name, Terry Pares, taking third with his score of 37.

The Harrison-Lavers & Potburys Medal competition on Saturday was played across three divisions.

In Division One, Neil Faulkner came in with a two under par 64 to win the medal and a one stroke deduction.

The minor places went to Paul Hitchcock and Neil Holland a couple of shots behind. Marc Jenkins played an excellent round of golf, scoring an impressive four under par round of 62 to win Division Two.

Hot on his heels were Tony Crow and Malcolm Willoughby, both on 63. All three saw their handicaps improve.

Division Three was won with a one under par round of 65 by Keith White, with Roger Bawden on 66 and Allan Malcolm a somewhat distant third on 71.

The Upper Crust Monday Stableford was won this week by Terry O’Brien on a solid score of 41, which was two shots better than the runners-up, Steve Milton and Neil Holland, both on 39. It earned him top prize and a two stroke reduction off his handicap.
