The Sidmouth Jewellers Friday stableford was won with great scores this week, writes John Barnard.
Jonathan Lee scored an excellent 41 points, but only got the top spot on countback from David Jeffrey. Jonathan’s score was one under par standard scratch for the course (66) and included four birdies, three on the back nine.
A birdie on the 18th was enough to get him across the line. David had a fine start to his round with a succession of pars off his mid handicap. Two double bogies on holes nine and eleven cost him first place, but it was a fine round of golf that saw him cut to a handicap of eleven.
In third place was Nick Gingell. He scored 39 points in a very consistent round, four bogies, two birdies and all the rest pars. Graham Davies continued his good form with 38 points to see him onto his lowest ever handicap of eight, but not quite good enough for the prizes.
