The twelth round of the Sidmouth Jewellers Friday night league was played in superb weather and this week, there were so new names on the leader board, writes John Barnard.

Leading the way with an excellent 40 points was Peter Abrahams and his score meant a one shot handicap reduction. Unfortunately, he halved his prize money as he didn’t enter the sweep! Seven pars and a birdie off a handicap of 16 meant lots of points although a few were lost along the way as well. In second place, but picking up most of the sweep money was Richard Thurlow. He scored 38 points and beat Ian Watson into third place on countback. Off Richard’s handicap of 28, he played a consistent round including parring the ninth which gave him four points. Ian scored lots of three pointers but his round was less consistent which cost him a place.

There was no real change in the Friday night league although Mark Thomas’s lead was cut to 11 points by Craig Melluish.

Surprisingly, there was only one two all day which pleased the lucky golfer who won £16.
