Sidmouth ladies B team were beaten 6-2 when they travelled to Newton Abbot A.

The team took to the court with the regular pairings of captain, Marlene Maynard, with Jackie Ensall and Vici Topping partnering Kate Truman, the latter returning to play after some time out with a back injury.

Maynard and Ensall had a frustrating evening and were unable to find their form against a strong Newton Abbot team, losing both their rubbers in a straightforward fashion.

Topping and Truman fared better with Truman on good form and enjoying some lively exchanges at the net. The pair beat the second couple in straight sets, but then failed to capitalise on a 4-0 lead in the first set of the second rubber to lose 4-6, 2-6.
