Sidmouth ladies B team have come through both of their last two matches without dropping a set and are now positioned at the top of their table with four matches left to play.

The first match was away at Teign Valley on June 17 and it witnessed the successful trial of some new partnerships.

Kate Truman played with Vici Topping and the pair enjoying a convincing 6-1, 6-0 and 7-5, 6-0 success.

Meanwhile, Jackie Ensall paired up with Gill Dolling and did well to hold their nerve in a close 7-5, 6-4 first rubber before enjoying a much more straightforward 6-0, 6-0 win in the second.

The second B team match was at home on Monday evening with Torquay the opposition.

Truman played with her usual partner Marlene Maynard and the two coasted to a 6-1, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-1 victory.

Ensall played with Sally Lockhart on this occasion and, again, secured a sound win in both rubbers, 6-2, 6-4 and then 7-5, 6-3.

Kate Truman says: “We are hoping to move up a division at the end of the season, but are mindful that there are still some strong teams to play in the final few matches of the campaign.”
