This week, 22 ladies braved the cold to play the second Rose Bowl and Rose Basket competitions , hence a chance to improve on scores achieved two weeks ago.

With the temperature in single figures, it was rather chilly on the course. When pushing a golf trolley one’s hands become particularly cold, a problem that our Lady Captain has addressed. Equipped with an old pair of waterproof trousers, an old fleece, needle, cotton and considerable skill, she has designed a hand warmer to fit on the trolley that is the envy of the ladies’ section!

Liz Chance must have managed to keep her hands warm because, playing off 7/8 handicap, she came in with a magnificent 37 points.

This meant she was the winner of the Rose Bowl competition and Sheila Thomson was second with 33 points. Penny Lyne scored 28 points to win the Rose Basket competition on countback from Margaret Deuce.

A club Stableford was also played and Liz was the winner, Sheila was second and Julie Lye took third place.
