On Wednesday, Sidmouth Ladies played for the Dodd Salver, writes Maria Clapp.

This was presented to the ladies section in 1978 by Mr Dodd in memory of his wife Clarice Dodd. A medal was run in conjunction with the salver.

First place went to our lady captain, Sheila Faulkner, who came in with a nett 65. This was four shots better than her handicap, which is quite an achievement as Sheila plays off of a handicap of 10.

Second place went to one of our recent members Gerri Whitrow who had a nett 66.

Third place was taken by Maria Clapp with a nett 69. Both Sheila and Gerri have had their handicaps reduced as a result of their success.

Three ladies achieved a two. They were Margaret Thompson, Sheila Tallon and Maria Clapp. Therefore the pot will have to be divided by three!

Last Saturday, the ladies, who attended the academy came to the club for coffee, and Ann Willoughby discussed various topics in the day to day running of the ladies section.

Some of the ladies were presented with their first handicap certificates.

There are several others who are working towards theirs also.
