Sidmouth ladies exit Masons competition

After their exertions during the bowls tour in Bournemouth, the Sidmouth ladies have had a quiet start to the indoor season, writes Jennifer Fricker.

There have been many mixed matches where the gentlemen have supported the ladies, but few ladies matches.

Unfortunately both teams in the Masons competition lost on aggregate in the first round, but Eileen Hewett’s team of Jean Brimson, Phyl Nobbs and Val Newnham are to be congratulated on winning against a very strong team away at Torquay United by a margin of four shots.

The only friendly ladies match was the one against Madeira and that can be regarded as a draw as one rink won, one lost and the other drew!

There’s plenty more matches to come with reports to follow in due course.
