Sidmouth ladies invited the gentlemen to join them in a fun Texas Scramble competition, writes Maria Clapp.

Each team consisted of two ladies and two gentlemen. The best drive is chosen, not necessarily the furthest! Then everyone plays from that point. The ladies were pleased with the excellent turn out for this competition. The weather was perfect and everyone who played thoroughly enjoyed themselves and requested we play more of these competitions!

The winners were Keith James, Gill Paddon, Paddy Hutchings and Dave Stone.

In second place was Yvonne Anning, Dorthe Fowler, Colin Paddon and Hugh Dorliac and in third place was Anne Blackler, Christ Cave, Paul Murphy and Mike Dommett. Prices of wine and chocolates were presented by the ladies captain.

Earlier in the week the Shelah Creasy team played away against Woodbury where they lost four-and-a-half to two-and-a-half. Liz Chance and Yvonne Anning won both their matches with an excellent result of seven up and six to play! Sue Billinghurst halved her match.
