On Wednesday, Sidmouth ladies played for the Moore Cup, writes Maria Clapp.
This cup was presented by a former member, for a stroke play competition. Partners are drawn for this competition. This enables players to play with other members of different abilities, and gets members to mix with a variety of ladies. The competition is run alongside an EGU Medal.
Twenty-six ladies took part and, for a pleasant change, with the sun shining, shirt sleeves were the order of the day! That said, the temperature cooled as the day progressed.
The winner, with a terrific score of nett 63, was Mo Borer and was certainly streets ahead of the rest of the field. Such was her outstanding performance that it resulted in her handicap being cut by four shots and she will now play off 30. That represents a terrific effort. Well done, Mo.
In second place was lady captain Sheila Faulkner with a nett 71. Third place had to be decided by countback with Angela Coles edging out Penny Lyne, after both players returned a score of nett 72.
There were no twos recorded and so the pot is rolled over until next week.
