Sidmouth Ladies sent four triples teams to play in a friendly match at Madeira last Friday, writes Susie Bonnell.
It was a touch and go affair as to whether it would take place at all - pouring rain from the night before, lashing down on the morning threatened to stop play, even before it had begun. Luckily, midday saw the rain stop and although the visiting Sidmouth ladies drove through deep puddles on Exmouth seafront, by start of play the sun had started to break through. Amazingly the afternoon brought beautiful sunshine and the ladies thoroughly enjoyed their games.
Sidmouth won on two rinks and lost on two. However, their total final score gave Sidmouth an overall win of 68-52.
The highest scoring rink was 25-9 and that was skipped by Zena Johnson with her team of Mary Smith and Pat Poole.
