It has been a very good week for Sidmouth Ladies on a number of fronts, writes Susie Bonnell.

In the Foxlands League Sidmouth were up against their friends and rivals, Madeira.

Three of the Sidmouth teams won, giving an overall success of 83-69 securing eight of the 10 points on offer.

The top scoring rink was skip, Jane Painter and her team, Elaine Reed, Paddy Wrench and Mary Smith. Great result!

The ladies sent three triples teams for a friendly match at Madeira on the final Friday of November and there were close games contested. For a good while Sidmouth held the upper hand on two of the rinks. However, when the final wood had been delivered Madeira were three shot victors at 49-46.

The winning rink for Sidmouth was Jenny Fricker (skip), Mary Turner and Shirley Rose.

Sidmouth Ladies played in another round of the Lane League on the usual two home rinks and two away rinks format with Exeter-based Isca the opposition.

Three of the four Sidmouth teams won and that gave the team an overall 64-62 victory and another eight point haul out of the 10 available.

The highest scoring rink, with a 17-10 success was Susie Bonnell (skip), Linda Hargrave, Karen Hollingdale and Freda Humphreys. Well done, to all the Ladies.

Sidmouth Ladies certainly had their ‘mojo’ back when they played in the latest round of the Mason Trophy against Torquay!

The opposition were able to field one of their strongest teams, but it proved to be an occasion when everything fell into Sidmouth’s favour and the wins on both rinks with a final margin of nine shots, bags Sidmouth a place in the next round against Isca on a date to be decided.
