This week the ladies played a team match between the lady captain’s team and the ladies secretary’s team, writes Andrea Milton.

The reward for the winning team is a beautiful little cup which was given to the club by Jill Powell in 1980, the year that she was lady captain.

Twelve pairs competed despite a foggy day and a soggy course. Everyone relished the chance for matchplay for a change and the winning team was the lady captain’s team, who whitewashed the opposition 91.5 to 21.5.

Also this week the ladies played a friendly match against Teignmouth golf club, at home. Unfortunately an uninvited lady joined us, in the form of hurricane Ophelia, whose remnants were battering the south west coast. Despite the 30 mile an hour winds we enjoyed lovely sunny weather and the course was looking very lush. Sidmouth won the match by three games to one and everyone enjoyed the day.
