Sidmouth ladies recently played their annual match of the captain’s team versus the secretary’s team, writes Maria Clapp.
This is always a great friendly event. The captain’s team is made up of past lady captains while the secretary’s team is comprised of other lady members.
The 2018 affair was closely contested and halfway through the action the outcome was very much in the balance!
However, there was a winner and that was the captain’s team with the score being six-and-a-half to four-and-a-half. After the final shots had been played, Andrea Milton, the secretary, presented the cup to Sheila Faulkner, the ladies’ captain, in the clubhouse, where all of the ladies gathered for their usual refreshments.
The cup was presented to the ladies’ section in 1981 by Jill Powell, one of our past ladies’ captains.
