The Marine Cup was presented to the Club by JW Burgoyne and is commonly known as ‘The Burgoyne Cup’, writes Chris Roberts.

The competition is played as a match play event for handicaps of 15 and over and is always well contested and this year was certainly no exception.

The final was played out between Peter Abrahams and Martyn French and with both players entering the final in fine form a tough match was on the cards, but in any final nerves will play their part!

Peter (steady Eddy) Abrahams started well and secured the first hole to get of to the perfect start. Martyn French kept his opponent on his toes though as the match ebbed and flowed with both players showing mixed form.

Ultimately it was Abrahams who lifted the trophy thanks to a three-and-two success.
