The men’s Top Club competition is the same format as the ladies event, played as a knock-out competition over five disciplines; the two-wood singles, four-wood singles, pairs, triples and rinks (fours), writes Carol Smith.
To progress a team needs to win at least three of the disciplines.
Sidmouth met Phear Park and won three of the disciplines to move smoothly into the next round of the competition which will see them travel to East Devon to meet Chardstock.
Meanwhile, in the Foxlands, which is also a knock-out county-wide competition played home and away by one rink, Sidmouth came up against neighbours Budleigh.
The away rink of Bill Sheerman, Brian Smith, Ken Wheeler and skip Chris Nappin, had a fine 19-12 success, but unfortunately, the home team lost and the overall score ended with Sidmouth being edged out by a margin of just two shots!
