Sidmouth men’s B team suffered a heavy defeat on a visit to Mid Devon, writes Kate Truman.
The men were beaten 8-0 by hosts Tiverton. Richard Davies paired up with Neil Hanson and Martin Dawes played with Freddie Dawes. The Sidmouth teams fought hard and had their chances, with Neil and Richard managing some set points but, ultimately, were unable to convert the critical points.
Playing against one particularly experienced Tiverton player, as well as a younger contingent of 20-somethings who were a bit unconventional in their play, Sidmouth’s efforts to find any kind of rhythm were thwarted.
The team now needs to get good results in the return ties against Teignmouth and Okehampton, which should be possible.
