Sidmouth Monday stableford victory for David Bater

PUBLISHED: 22:04 23 April 2015 | UPDATED: 22:04 23 April 2015

Players in the Charles Stanley Monday Stableford enjoyed summer temperatures, heard cuckoos at the far end of the course, the tap of woodpeckers echoed round the course all of which helped make difficult conditions more bearable.

Ignoring the distractions was David Bater, continuing his good run of form. He won after scoring 40 points, mainly due to a back nine of 35 gross. This meant he won by one point as club manager Jonathan Lee surprised himself by securing second place after struggling all month with a bad back.

His back nine of 35, including two birdies, meant he beat Gary Linnen on countback, who secured third and a handicap reduction of one shot.

Currently, the eclectic table is led by John Jones and Jonathan Lee with 57s. ‘Jonesy’ is romping the birdie count though with 11 so far this year to Jonathan’s mere 8!
