The torture of the monthly medal was revisited at Sidmouth on Saturday, writes John Barnard.
No escaping misplaced shots that lead to racking up a cricket score on one particular hole!
Fortunately, the weather was excellent, the course was in marvellous condition and as always, there were a few players that played really well.
Leading Division One was Paddy Tallon with an excellent net score of 63, despite a double and a treble bogie.
However, 14 pars and a birdie meant a handicap reduction to seven. Paddy won on countback from Kevin Legg who rattled off three birdies but a few bogies on the back nine gave Paddy the win. Third was League Team Captain Moray Bosence with an unusually consistent round of including two birdies, but a double bogey on the third cost him.
In Division Two, Graham Davies won with a net 64 which could have been a great score but for a 7 on the par three sixth. Two birdies and a number of pars saw him home. In second place was Phil Spencer, continuing his recent run of good form with a net score of 65. Double bogies on holes 10 and 13 cost him a handicap reduction. In third place was Graham Rogers with a net 66.
The score of the day was achieved by Jeremy Holden. He won Division Three with a net 62 and has his handicap reduced by two to 18. It would have been much better if he had not had three double bogies in the last four holes. In second place was Alec Baldwin (Basher) with a net 71 and Sean Murphy was third with 73.
