HIGH-flying Sidmouth Town are out of the Graddon Vending Devon Premier Cup after a narrow defeat against Peninsular League opposistion at the weekend.

They lost to a 60th minute goal against Stoke Gabriel that left the entire team and manager Paul Ashford extremely disappointed.

"Our reaction was a natural one for a professional outfit but I was at the same time very pleased with the way we tackled the task of facing this team that plays in a league higher - pleased with the attitude of the team and the way they went about their task.

"We had two chances - one in each half - and we defended very well. But Stoke Gabriel had that bit extra."

The Exeter and district Football League Premier Division leaders, Sidmouth, do not have a match this weekend and so the team are going to relax during a field day at Otter Nurseries.

The reserves are at home to Colyton in Division 3 - giving Paul Ashford the chance to check up on future first team players.
