Sidmouth Over-60s A find their forms with revenge success over Topsham

Sidmouth Ladies’ endured a difficult match with Heavitree, writes Ron Cook.
They went down on both rinks to lose 41-22.
Chris Hamer’s rink of Jean Brimson and Zena Johnson were edged out by a single shot in their contest!
The ladies visited Shaldon with three Triples, but found the rinks very difficult and went down to a 56-31 reversal.
There was one winning rink, that of Phil Nobbs, Chris Hamer and Elaine Reed whop secured a 15-12 victory.
There was a mixed friendly match with Prattens BC from Midsomer Norten, Somerset.
Sidmouth won four of the six rinks contested and overall secured a 123-82 triumph.
Jill Bishop and her team of Dennis Moore, Janet Thomson, Ken Bridgman were 25-9 winners and another good result was recorded by Betty farmer, Steve Thomson, Margaret King and John Doyle who won 29-13.
There were also victories for; Mitch Mitchum, Maury Ervine, Jason Quinn and Val Newnham (17-9) and Ray Tallent, Margaret Lamb, Pat Pritchard and Chris Rourke (23-10).
Last Friday was an important day for the Men’s section as they entertained the County President, Edgar Melluish, who brought teams from Bere Alston, Crediton, City of Plymouth, Mount Gold, Plympton and Topsham.
Amongst the visiting contingent were many County Badged bowlers.
The match was contested in stunning weather and the bowling matched the weather with Sidmouth thoroughly deserving their 124-120 success.
The best home rinks were; Ken Bridgman, David Brand, David Fairclough and Mike Borst (29-18); Bill Dunbar, Ron Denning, Bert Hague and John Mason (24-12); Frank Adlam, Alex Bent, Jim Wrench and Ron Cook (17-14) and Tony Holland, Mitch Mitchum, Peter Mison and Bob Seldon (19-19).
The Sidmouth A squad has found their form in the Over-60s, taking full points against Topsham who had beaten Sidmouth in the first game of the season!
The B squad has also been doing well, claiming three wins and a draw to bank seven points from a meeting with league leaders Morchard Bishop A on their own green. The C squad picked up two points against Ottery St Mary at home.
In County Trophy Sidmouth won two and lost two in their meeting with Ottery St Mary to record another four points. The winning Sidmouth rinks were; Ken Bridgman, Peter Mison, John Mason and Bob Seldon (15-14); Tony Holland, Bert Hague, Brian Smith and Norman Brimson (20-18).
