On Monday of this week there was a nerve-jangling encounter played out at Sidmouth, writes Susie Bonnell.
It was all very tense and exciting as the two Cooks, Ronnie and Sylvia, took on Madeira duo Liz Smerdon and Cliff Skinner in the third round of the County Mixed Pairs competition.
The visiting duo (Liz Smerdon is an international player), had the Cooks pinned down at the 20th end holding a 16-15 advantage.
However, that 20th end proved decisive for the Cooks picked up three shots to seal a marvellous 18-16 success.
The Cooks must now wait to hear news of both opposition and venue for the final!
