Sidmouth duo Jean Brimson and Jill Bishop were in action in the Section Three final of the Devon county Over-70 pairs, with the match against the Honiton pairing of Di Hawkins and Heather Chambers being played at Sidmouth.
In what was another close encounter, the Sidmouth pairing went into the last end just one shot up.
Most pairs games are played over 21 ends, but this one, because of age, is only over 18 ends. Not that it would make any difference to the players taking part, for they are all wonderful bowlers – despite the advancing years!
Anyway, back to the action and it was the Sidmouth duo who prevailed as they secured another shot to take the match honours 18-16 and they now proceed to the Devon quarter-finals against a pairing from Section Eight, who are Roseanne Burnridge and Pat Blake from Yealmpton. This match will be played at Sidmouth and a match report will follow in due course – watch this space…
