Sidmouth Raiders Under-11s produced a superb all-round performance when they shared eight goals with West Exe Youth.
In difficult conditions, freezing cold and on a solid surface, the home team adapted quickest and opened the scoring.
Raiders responded well and, after a period of sustained pressure and a number of corners, skipper Yan Mercan levelled things up.
The Exeter-based side hit back and scored twice to lead 3-1, but once again the Raiders response was good and the lead was halved after a fumble by the goalkeeper before Zac Lascelles weaved his way past a number of challenges prior to thumping the ball home.
West Exe took the lead once more and looked all set to bank the three points until a last minute penalty that Frank Long stroked home to leave honours even.
