Sidmouth Raiders Under-11s bagged three well earned points from their Exeter and District Youth League meeting with Twyford at a sun-kissed Newton Poppleford.
Both teams made bright starts, but it was Raiders who struck first with Josh O’Connor finding himself clear on goal with only the Twyford goalkeeper to beat, something he did with aplomb. Back came the Tiverton-based side to equalise, but the lead was restored when, following a period of sustained pressure and a number of O’Connor netted in trademark clinical fashion.
Frank Long then scored to make it 3-1, netting with a superb strike, late on the visitors’ scored a second, but Raiders were not to be denied and closed the game out well to bank three richly deserved points.
