Sidmouth Raiders Under-12s shared two goals with Feniton in a close Exeter and District Youth League meeting.

Raiders began the game with only eight players whilst the visitors had the luxury of a full complement plus substitutes!

However, buoyed by their recent form, Raiders were confident heading into the match in the knowledge that if they applied their normal energy and determination they’d get something from the contest.

Raiders made a bright start and Freddie Dorman was mighty unfortunate not to be awarded a goal when a fierce shot of his appeared to have gone over the line before being cleared.

Soon after Zac Lascelles found himself in space in a great position and he made no mistake in firing Raiders into a half-time lead.

After the break Feniton increased the tempo of their game and a key feature was the fact that they were able to introduce fresh legs – something Raiders could not do on a morning when they weather conditions and heavy ground made for tiring legs!

Raiders defended excellently thanks to the collective efforts of Jack Goodman, Reuben Bennett and goalkeeper Ned Selley.

In front of them, Miles Lewis made some crucial interceptions and was also able to start some rapid counter-attacking moves.

Eventually though, the Feniton pressure told, though there was an element of good fortune about their equaliser!

Later in the game Raiders had their chances as Josh O’Connor fashioned a number of openings, but an in-form Feniton glovesman proved equal to the best of the home efforts.

Post match the general consensus was that Raiders had put in another super shift and all who had witnessed the match agreed it was ‘edge-of-the-seat’ action!
