Sidmouth Rugby Club has staged a match at their new pitch at Sidford.
The new pitch is on ground leased to the club by the Prettejohn family and both Andrew and Jo Prettejohn were present to witness the first game on the surface and were accompanied at the match by Sidmouth RFC president Derek Marchant.
Work first started on the pitch a year ago.
The extra pitch, which was part funded by a grant from the Rugby Football Foundation, is needed to cope with the growth of the Club’s junior section and the introduction of girls rugby at Under-13 and Under-15 age groups.
Sidmouth Colts won their first outing on the new surface, defeating Devonport Services Colts 27-10.
