Sidmouth Rugby Club played their first game on their new pitch at Sidford last weekend, writes Terry O’Brien.
Work started on the pitch a year ago on a field owned by, and leased from, the Prettejohn family.
Andrew and Jo Prettejohn were present for the inaugural match, where they were met by club president Derek Marchant.
The extra pitch, which was part funded by a grant from the Rugby Football Foundation, is needed to cope with the growth of the club’s junior section and the introduction of girls rugby at Under-13 and Under-15 age groups.
In an entertaining game the Colts defeated Devonport Services Colts 27-10.
