Following her selection for the Devon Under-15 girls squad earlier in the season, Laika Swain played in all of Devon’s fixtures, writes Terry O’Brien.

Her performances led to her selection to take part in trails for the South West squad.

Laika, who is the daughter of former Sidmouth forward Eddie Swain, was successful in being selected for the South West squad to play against Canada later in the season.

Meanwhile, Sam Cavin has been selected for the South West Under-18 squad for matches against the South Area and Gloucester Academy.

This is a stepping stone towards selection for the England Counties team. Following these warm up games, the South West will play against the South and London at Chippenham on February 19.

From this game and a similar one between the Midlands and North the England Counties squad will be selected for matches against Ireland and France to be played over Easter.
