Sidmouth had a double victory at Killerton on Sunday where there were multi terrain races over 5k, 10k and half marathon distances, writes John Perratt.

These were organised by a new group known as ‘Relish Running Races’. Their philosophy is to stage off road races in order to promote a healthy, family focussed lifestyle in a natural environment.

Whatever the concept, Milan Goc and Jason Drew took it seriously and respectively won the Half Marathon and the 10km race. The times were slow because it was a hilly and muddy course but most enjoyable nevertheless. Also making an appearance in the 10k were Fiona Cummins, obviously back into her running quite seriously again, and Jenny Bentley in her first ever race.

Jason then crowned a good week on Tuesday by taking second place in the Ironbridge Runner 5k series setting a club best time of 16.08 for the distance, breaking the record established a few years back by Matthew Szala. That is the second record he has taken off Matthew in the last month so we are expecting a comeback shortly. Jason in the meantime moves into shared first place in the English Under 17 rankings for 5kms on the road.

Well done, to all of them.
