Last weekend, Kirsteen Welch was the first senior woman in the Devon county XC (cross-country) championships, writes Hamish Spence.
The event was staged at Exeter Arena where runners had to race over a distance of 5k that Kirsteen completed in a time of 18:16.
She said that she was not used to the short, fast furious stuff and this race hurt...a lot!
Winning this race means that she will be representing Devon in the South West XC championships on January 6, being held in Yeovil, Somerset. Good luck Kirsteen.
