On a warm Wednesday evening, seven Sidmouth Running Club members donned their ‘Mighty Greens’ and took part in the Exeter 10km Run, writes Hamish Spence.

The event starts at the Quay in Exeter and takes runners along the Parkrun route that takes in the river and canal footpaths and cycle tracks to the swing bridge and back. This was a two-lap traffic-free and pancake-flat 10km run.

In terms of the Sidmouth seven, first home was Greg Ward who crossed the line in a time of 47:08 and 94th place.

Rob Edwards was next, 115th in 48:44 and after that it was, Steve Saunders, 171st in 52:55 – and Steve is now looking to beat that time next year.

Next home was Jo Earlam, 205th, 55:48 and John Sharples, 243rd, 58:39. Cheryl Boulton, who wanted a sub one hour time for the 10km, sprinted for the finish line and achieved her goal, finishing in 59:43 coming 253rd, and Christie Ward felt very pleased with her position of 282nd, with a time of 63:52. There were 338 finishers.
