JODIE DIBBLE, 14, from Sidmouth, has been selected for the U17s England Women's Cricket development squad. The squad will travel to South Africa next April to compete in the Cape Town Women's Cricket Tournament which attracts provincial teams from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, as well as British county sides Warwickshire, Lancashire and Gloucestershire.There will be coaching and management staff allocated by the ECB travelling with them and helping the girls through their paces, following a winter of strict training beforehand, either in Loughborough, which is the England Men's training centre, or Taunton Cricket Centre, which is where the England women are based.The ECB are funding a percentage of the trip but Jodie, along with the rest of the squad, will be looking for sponsorship to make up the difference. Jodie has already been selected for the England U19 indoor cricket squad, plays for the Devon U17 girls, Devon Ladies, whose matches include a fixture in Scotland, and the U19 regional girls' squad who have a tournament in Berkshire during August.Jodie's mum Liz said: "We are so excited by this news. Jodie's brother Adam, leaves to fulfil his commitments at Somerset CC this week. I am very proud of them both. Jodie has focused so hard, mentally and physically, to reach this stage." l Adam played for Devon against Dorset this week and took one wicket in the first innings, two in the second innings and scored 25 runs, batting at Number 10.
