Archant

With umbrellas and showerproofs to hand and not a single broomstick in sight, Monday saw the second attempt by Sidmouth Golf Club’s glamorous Grannies to play for the Grandmother’s Shield, writes Gill Paddon.

Continuing her current run of success Yvonne Anning was delighted to win the trophy, with Jacqui Hills in second place.

●On Ladies’ Day, 27 golfers played for the President’s Cup which was presented to the section by Mr Arthur Skinner who was the president of the club from 1958–1979.

It was played as a Par competition, basically playing against the course and looking for birdies.

Julie Lye found two birdies and was the overall winner with a score of +2 and Sue Billinghurst, a relatively new member of the club, was runner up scoring -1.

Margaret Thompson had the only two.
