The second of the four planned taster sessions got underway on Saturday with near perfect conditions allowing those attending to get out on to the water for the first time.

Adults and juniors were accompanied by competent helms where they were given a ‘taste’ of what it is like to sail a dinghy. Scorpions and an RS Vision were used for the adults, and the smaller RS Fevas for the younger participants. The morning proved to be a great success with everyone enjoying their experience.

In the afternoon the more serious racing took place with 15 boats taking to the water to battle it out. Three different fleets made up of Scorpions, Lasers and Toppers took to the water. The first race saw some closely fought sailing from both the Scorpion and Laser fleets alike. Scorpion sailor Miles Hapgood took the honours in the first race, which was impressive as his crew was Andrew Moore-Jones, was one of those on the taster session earlier in the day.

The second race of the day was again closely fought with Chris Clapp getting his second win of the day in the Laser fleet and Simon Price with crew Finn Dinham-Price taking first in the Scorpions, just edging out Nick Jennings and his crew Jo Kinder to second.

Another fantastic day was had by all and a big thank you goes out from the commodore, Simon White, to all those that helped out to make the day such a success.
