Sidmouth see off visiting centenary celebrating Brixham

Sidmouth had another busy and pleasant week of action last week, writes Ron Cook.

First up a friendly triples match against Madeira who won four of the six rinks contested and thus sealed a 123-96 success.

The best rinks for Sidmouth were John Doyle, Chas Coates and skip Frank Adlam (22-16) and Ken Bridgman, Jim Wrench and skip David Hughes (20-17).

Last Thursday Sidmouth entertained Gloucester Co-op who pitched up with ten mixed rinks. The rink score ended five-all, but the overall match went the way of the visitors 180-167.

Winning rinks for Sidmouth were; Ann England, Ken Day, Gordon Blood and skip Margaret King (19-16), Maurie Ervine, George Hudec, Derek Mountford and Jim Wrench (16-13), Sue Mison, Harry Carpenter, Peter Bloomfield and Bob Daniels (32-7), Ron Denning, Doreen Pound, Pat Pritchard and David Fairclough (20-16) and John Greenaway, Mary Turner, Mitch Mitchum and Ray Tallent (20-15).

Brixham BC, celebrating their centenary year, were the next visitors.

Sidmouth were the victors, securing a 120-96 win with the winning rinks being; Gerry Hargrave, Mitch Mitchum, Janice Quinn and Ron Cook (26-10), Maurie Ervine, Gordon Brown, Sylvia Cook (21-12) and Anita Mason, Rob Wheaton, Chas Coates and Eileen Hewett

In the Exeter Over-60s Triples League both the Sidmouth A and B squads banked full points in their matches to strengthen their respective positions.
