On Monday, the senior section at Sidmouth golf club played their annual Autumn Cup in very autumnal weather, damp underfoot and a tricky wind causing a few problems for the slicers amongst us, writes Hugh Dorliac.
A three man team event, with two scores to count and all three on the last hole, saw results of varying highs and lows.
Those teams that gelled together well were, in third place, Len Wright, David Millen and Bob Cook with 78 points.
In second for quite a while were John Billingsley, Colston Herbert and Dave Atkinson on an excellent 82 points, but in first place with a superb 84 points were Ray Gunston, Phil Spencer and in-form Charles Warren.
