Sidmouth seniors travelled to Crediton for their annual away fixture last Wednesday, writes Chris Grubb.

With the weather forecast being poor and the remnants of the hurricane blowing itself out, fortunately despite the stiff breeze, the rain stayed away.

Seniors captain Nigel Sharpe accompanied by Les Pratt had a close match for the first 13 holes, being two down, but then lost on 14 and 15 to go down four-and-three.

Second out were Chris Ashley and Doug Goodall who were beaten by one after leading for much of the round only to miss out, losing the final hole.

Tony Stoyle and Ray Gunston also lost by one and they too went down to an 18th defeat.

Terry Carter and Phil Spencer lost three-and-one, this after they were just one down with two to play, but lost the last two holes.

Bob Cook and Colston Herbert were well beaten, going down five-and-three as a result of a poor back nine.

Last out were Oaul Blay and Rob Owen and they slipped to a four-and-two defeat, losing three in a row on the back nine.

It all added up to a bad day at the office for the senior side who succumbed to a 6-0 drubbing.
