Sidmouth skipper Will Murray is wary of the threat that tomorrow’s hosts North Devon pose.

Murray says: “They were able to call on the services of five first-class players last weekend and whilst I understand that two of them will not be on duty tomorrow, it still means we face three of them! I’d rather be playing top team sat this stage of the campaign and North Devon are certainly one of this seasons’ top teams right now.”

If, as is expected Matt Cooke has recovered from his damaged finger that kept him out of action last weekend, he will come back into the side and there is one other change from the team that took to the field against Bradninch with the return from injury of the return from injury of Will Gater who proved his fitness with three wickets in last Sunday’s twenty20 success over Plymouth at the County ground.

Murray can’t wait to have another crack at the Twenty20 Area Finals, something he will get the chance to enjoy a week on Sunday when the side travel up the M5 to take on hosts club Frocester.

That was the day Murray and his side should have been running out at hoe to face Plymouth in the semi-final of this season’s Devon Senior Cup and that tie has now been put back a week.

Unfortunately, with Fortfield staging a County fixture that day it means the game switches to the home of Plymouth.

Murray says: “Obviously it’s disappointing to lose homed advantage and it does seem odd that it’s not taken to a neutral venue. That said, it is what it is and we have to simply tackle that big game having dealt with the other big games before it!”
