On Saturday, there was a clear diary so Sidmouth Golf Club put on a stableford competition which was just as well for Neil Faulkner as he won with 41 points, writes John Barnard.
Neil’s round was going pretty well including a couple of birdies, but then an eagle on the last for four points pushed him to the front of the leaderboard.
In second place was club chairman Paul Lewis with 39 points. A really consistent round with one birdie and 14 pars, but a double bogie on the fifth cost him.
David Pepperell was a further point back, ruing a ‘blob’ on the 14th hole which messed up a really good looking card.
There were only three two’s, each worth six pounds so well worth the entry.
