Sidmouth continue to seek glory on three different fronts as the cricket season enters its final month, writes Stephen Birley.
Despite last Saturday’s Francis Clark Devon League top flight game with Bradninch being rained off the Fortfield men managed to bank a point more than title rivals Bovey Tracey and Exmouth.
The following day rain struck again, but not before they had reached the Devon Twenty20 final.
With the final rained off and North Devon unable to make the re-arranged date (see full story inside), it means Sidmouth will head for Bristol on Sunday week to play in the area finals.
That day was due to see Fortfield stage the Devon Senior Cup semi-final with Plymouth and that game will now be played seven days later in Plymouth.
Sidmouth skipper Will Murray says: “To be still fighting on three fronts in August is testament to the side’s qualities. It now means a hectic August, but I’d not have it any other way. The bigger the better in terms of forthcoming matches and I do think this current Sidmouth side perform better the bigger the game and the occasion.”
