Six youngsters were presented with free tennis rackets by Sidmouth Tennis Club coaches on Sunday after graduating from the Club’s Davis Cup Legacy coaching programme writes Kate Truman.

The six have completed a free six-week introductory course to tennis run at the club as part of the national Davis Cup Legacy Programme, which aims to introduce new children to the sport.

Sidmouth Tennis Club head coach Sue Wiltshire said: “Our six children – and their parents - have shown great enthusiasm for their lessons and we’ve had a lot of fun with them over the last six weeks. Hopefully, it will instill in them a love of tennis for life and we very much hope to see them continue with coaching at the club.”

The club’s junior coaching programme for June and July has just been published and is available to view on the Sidmouth Tennis Club website.
